  • What is CCTV? Purpose and real-life uses
  • Types of CCTV cameras: Dome, Bullet, PTZ, Wi-Fi
  • Understanding CCTV components:
  • Camera, DVR/NVR
  • Hard Disk Drive (HDD)
  • Monitor/TV
  • Power supply
  • Cables (BNC, Ethernet)
  • Demo: View live camera footage on a monitor
  • Activity:
  • Identify each part by touch
  • Pass around real CCTV devices
  • Session 2: Choosing & Planning a CCTV System
  • Objective: Understand how to choose the right system.
  • Topics:
  • DVR vs NVR – What's the difference?
  • Wired vs Wireless cameras – Which is better?
  • Number of cameras needed: Home, shop, gate
  • Indoor vs Outdoor cameras
  • Resolution: 1MP, 2MP, 4MP — what it means
  • PoE cameras (Power over Ethernet) explained simply

  • Group discussion: Plan a 2-camera system for a sample house layout
  • Session 3: Hands-on Installation Practice
  • Objective: Learn how to set up the system physically.

  • Connecting camera to DVR/NVR
  • Installing and formatting the HDD
  • Connecting to power and monitor
  • Live video display and checking clarity

  • Session 4: Simple Networking for CCTV
    • Objective: Understand and connect CCTV system to the internet.

  • What is a router? What is Wi-Fi?
  • LAN cable: What it does and how to plug it in
  • How NVR connects to your router for internet viewing
  • IP address: Like a name for your camera
  • QR code scanning for easy connection (P2P method)
  • Mobile apps: Hik-Connect, XMeye, V380 (based on system)
  • Activity:
  • Connect NVR to router with LAN cable
  • Install app on phone
  • Scan QR code and watch live footage on mobile
  • Session 5: Configuration & Mobile Viewing
  • Objective: Learn basic system setup and smartphone access.
  • Topics:
  • Setting date/time
  • Adding a system password
  • Formatting the HDD
  • Setting recording type: 24/7 or motion-based
  • Playback: How to view old footage
  • Live view and remote playback on mobile
  • Activity:
  • Each participant views camera feed on their phone
  • Session 6: Troubleshooting & Maintenance
  • Objective: Fix common issues and maintain the system.

  • What to check if:
  • Camera is not showing
  • System is not recording
  • Internet/mobile view not working
  • Cleaning camera lens
  • Backing up footage using USB
  • Rebooting DVR/NVR if stuck
